Our hunt for an insect

Now that my big girl is in kindergarten, she is starting to come home with some 'homework' assignments. It's so cute how excited she gets over it and I have to admit that I get excited too. One of her recent assignments was to find an insect. She then had to identify parts of the bug and draw a picture of it as well as a picture of it's habitat.

I thought it would be a great idea to go out to our new house to find an insect that she probably hasn't seen before. You know, something out of the ordinary besides an ant or butterfly. We had to take daddy with us, of course, because he IS the bug expert. (Really - he knows so much random stuff and has a wealth of knowledge about bugs)

So, when we get to the house, everyone jumps out of the car and starts searching for bugs. To my dismay, Michael was showing them, without realizing it, how to lift up boards and look underneath them. It didn't take him long to see that Ella and Brett were copying their daddy and picking up boards. He quickly told them not to do that anymore. In search for this one of a kind bug, Ella finally found THE ONE. Oh boy! I couldn't wait to see what kind of cool insect we found. Surely no one else in the class would've found one like this...

Yes...that's a CRICKET!

At least we had fun and Ella learned all about her Cricket!

I remember in college Michael taking you around Clemson and educating you on trees and plants...he is such a great source of knowledge when it comes to stuff like that. I loved the post and how fun is it with your little ones...they are too cute. Can't wait to hear more about your house! Love ya.
