The Story of Our Christmas Tree- how sad

Well, let me first start by saying that Michael more than dislikes having to put the lights on the Christmas tree each year. His excitement is further deepened by the fact that I remind him yearly that my dad always put the lights on our tree and so I, naturally, think that Michael should be the one to put the lights on our tree.
Flash to the night we bought our tree- We picked out a great tree that isn't too big or too small (we are cramped for space so this was REALLY important) and the kids were so excited to finally have our tree at home. We felt like we had done a great thing and bought the tree from an organization that donates all proceeds to a battered women's shelter. They even delivered the tree to our house and drilled the hole in the trunk for it to sit on it's base. Only they kept drilling and drilling and drilling. SO- our tree has a little sway to it. No big deal, we can anchor it. Yeah, right. To what?? So the poor thing is leaning against our wall and we are praying that it won't topple over.
Now, flash to last night when we were going to decorate the tree. Notice I said, were. Michael climbed into the attic and pulled our decorations down and started his task of hanging the lights. We alternate white and colored lights every year and even though it was my year to get white lights, I didn't say anything when he started stringing the colored lights- aren't I a good wife? lol! He was is such good spirits and told me he was even going to light the inside of the tree (one year he simply strung the lights on the outside of the tree and I hated it- daddy doesn't do it this way. Poor Michael, he must think my daddy is the christmas tree light God)
He finallyl go the lights all the way to the top of the tree and was checking each strand to make sure they work as he went. Only, when we turned the lights off and did our drum roll (picture Christmas Vacation here) he plugged it in and only 1 strand was lit. The one on the bottom. The first strand he put on.
He then had to take off all the lights and re-do it over. If you know my wonderful hubby, you know that he HATES to re-do anything! He grumbled and moaned and I couldn't help but sit on the couch and laugh and laugh. I swear we need to change our names to The Griswalds. Those movies are taken from our real life scripts.
As he is re-doing the lights, he decided (why I don't know) to hang white and colored lights. The kids love it, which is all that really matters. I think our tree may win the most ghetto tree ever. It's hilarious, but it's making thekids happy so I' m reminding myself that that is all that counts. Our leaning, multi-colored tree...

You can see how Michael got fed up with the lights and just 'threw' the light strand on the top of the tree. I was laughing so hard and I knew he was ticked off so I just kept my mouth shut! lol!
Merry Christmas!

I think it looks great! I have had to get over my desire for a perfect tree with kids around, so I don't ask for too much anymore! Our tree will be lucky to have any needles by the time Christmas gets here thanks to Gibson! I still think the tree is beautiful, anyway -- there is just something festive about a lit tree no matter what kind of lights are on it!

I am still laughing, and really, it is not Ghetto. I love it! Jackson is the SAME WAY with the lights and it is his job anyway, I am the ornament hanger upper. He calls me the ornament snob b/c I always seem to find 1 or 2 that I just dont like anymore and throw it out (you know the ones that you put up but really dont want to) so I have a new nickname for the holidays.
